David,
Competition is healthy and good. Although I am happy with Cobalt products, I
would most welcome competition for them since everyone then improves faster.
I celebrate the entry of IOpliance into the market.
BUT:
You lied to us. You misrepresented yourself as a user giving a review, and
thus tried to sound unbiased. While there is nothing wrong with *being*
biased, you must, as Jeff said, make your biases clear.
Unfortunately you do your company more harm than good, since for most of us
trust is an enormously important factor. And, after your posts today, I do
not feel that I can trust you. So, today I have decided to let the market
play out for some time and see how IOpliance does. Sad, too, since yesterday
I was seriously contemplating buying a couple of your servers. But if I
can't trust you, I can't do business with you. That's just the way it is...
P.S. An honest word of advice: as the startup, you're on trial. You have to
prove that you can cut it, and that people can rely on you. If you don't
prove this, you have no business. So I suggest that you do everything
possible to make all your communication as professional as possible and
remain in control at all times. One of your posts today was deceptive; the
second was childish, angry, poorly drafted and misspelled, and entirely
unbusinesslike; and only the third was calm, professional, and
well-thought-out. Try to keep that same tone for everything; you'll make a
lot more money and friends that way.
