If you want belt-and-braces:
0. Leave Telnet running
1. Install SSH and ensure it runs up via a file in /etc/rc.d/init.d/
2. (I say this next step, not because rebooting is required, but if you want
to ensure that you will be able to get back into your server):
Reboot your server to *ensure* that the sshd daemon starts automatically
3. Connect to the rebooted server via SSH
4. Comment out telnet in inetd.conf
5. Restart inetd
6. Do not disconnect your SSH session but confirm that you cannot Telnet in
7. Do not disconnect your SSH session but confirm that you can SSH in again
8. Finally disconnect your SSH sessions secure in the knowledge you'll get
back in again :-)
