Yes. I answered this earlier.

No it isn't ridiculous. Unless you fubar your file permissions, site-admins
can't harm your system; aside from their sites data. Give them admin access
though, and you are up-creek... System management isn't done through a ftp
client. Is any part of this confusing you?
