[cobalt-users] Is there a fix for making invisbles visible on RQ4?

Howdy all.

I managed to solve my problem with the SSI/CGI issue mentioned
previously by resorting to telnet to go into the cgi-bin/data directory
to remove the hidden ".lock" file for the hit counter.

It seems like it would be much more helpful to turn on all the ".files"
to make them visible for site admins, as they are on most other servers
I've used (Sun/Solaris, Linux). I'm used to being able to see
".htaccess" (or bullet-htaccess), and any special files written by
scripts. I'm afraid to install a complex shopping system like Goldpaint
on the RaQ because of hidden files, which I'm used to being able to see.

It's ridiculous to have to telnet in to remove a simple file created by
a perl script. I can't have all my resold clients telneting in to play
with cd and ls -a and rm commands willy nilly.

so... Is there a fix that anyone knows of for the RaQ4 to simply make
all ".directories" and ".files" visible. All of my FTP software on both
the Mac and PC supports listing the hidden files, but the damn server
has been setup not to let them see the files.

Help! I could ask Cobalt, but after a couple of "unsupported, give us
money" messages, I don't have much hope for a quick response from that
area (pardon me if you're reading this... no offense intended).

TIA
Christopher
