I am going nuts trying to configure a virt site to accept email. I have
tried a couple MX configs and none work. I tried the way it is in the Raq3
manual and in the list archives.
server background:
columbusinteractive.com is IP xxx.xxx.xxx.145 (it is the base url of the
Raq3, also used as the DNS server) , politics2004.com is a virtual site on
IP xxx.xxx.xxx.146
it is set to accept mail for the domain in the site settings.
when it is set like it says to in the manual:
politics2004.com mail sent to high pri. server www.politics2004.com or
columbusinteractive.com , I get the following error:
The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<politics2004@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 MX list for politics2004.com. points back to ns1.columbusinteractive.com
554 <politics2004@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Local configuration error
The same thing happens if I send mail to politics2004@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
And if I set no MX record, I get the following error (expected):
----- Transcript of session follows -----
553 politics2004.com. config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
554 <politics2004@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Local configuration error
so, what on earth do I set the MX records to be? Thanks!!!!
