Sure sending a link to the archives is fine. In fact he did do it--the link
is at the bottom of every email. The problem is, Bob, that if give them the
answer even though it has been covered, ad nasuea, already it doesn't give
anyone motivation to find it themselves. You simply re-enforce NOT looking
in the archives... Which is going to get you more and more single line top
posts. It is a viscous cycle, the one you're proposing.

No, this stuff isn't marketed to inexperienced users. I have been looking
at the site and it is marketed towards ISPs that need automated, high
density, low-cost servers that can be operated by people in call centers,
etc.
It just so happens that it is actually used by people with little or no
experience.
I will give you this:
Cobalt does sell it as, and I quote: "The Cobalt RaQ includes everything you
need to begin hosting now." Which is VERY irresponsible, IMNSHO. Things
that are not included:
* Support Contract
* Routers
* BGP Routing
* System Engineers

Google is still up. Google caches everything.
OFFICIAL NOTICE TO THIS LIST: if you don't like the Cobalt list archives's
search engine, then use google.
Add this to the search query at http://www.google.com:
site:cobalt.com
and it will limit to what is in the Cobalt domain.

There is nothing rude about telling someone to check the archives. It is
rude to not check first. It is severely effecting the quality and
efficiency of this list when people abuse it.
