RE: [cobalt-users] DNS Problem? Admin, Email , Websites not accessible.

Hi All

Help Please we need some advise!

We have two RaQ 3i and we want setup Primary and Secondary DNS
RaQ 1 : NS1.DOMAIN.NET with IP 111.111.111.111
and RaQ2 : NS2.DOMAIN.NET with IP 222.222.222.222
The NS1 Host the websites and the DNS Records and the
NS2 Just DNS Records,
The IP of the sites on NS1 is 111.111.111.111

What is the right setup on DNS Records
and SOA ( Refresh, Retry, Expire, Minimum ),?

The time on SOA ( Refresh, Retry, Expire, Minimum )
has to be the same on both RaQs for each Domain DNS Records?

The SetUp for SOA on the first RaQ is :
Primary Server : NS1.DOMAIN.NET
Secondary Server : NS2.DOMAIN.NET

The SetUp for SOA on the Second RaQ is :
Primary Server : NS1.DOMAIN.NET
Secondary Server : NS2.DOMAIN.NET is this correct ?

We asking these because the servers every day between
10.30pm and 10.30 am Admin, Email , Web sites are not accessible.
But during the day everything it works perfect
Email, Admin, and Web Sites.
Can anyone tell me what's Happening?

When we run PING between 10.30pm and 10.30am
there is error Time out. This is going on Three Days now.
Our Servers are Co-Located!

If anyone has a clue about this story please Help me.

Cheers
John Milo

I had a similar problem with my first RAQ3I, but our didn't happen for a
specific 12hr period. It did however seem to up and down. Failing on mail
clients, www sites, and telnet sessions. When I put a sniffer on the line I
was getting junk packets from the primary interface on the Raq. Good
indication of a failed NIC. So cobalt replaced the Unit. Overnight I might
add.
