I missed the original question. By the way, in a DNS name, only
letters, numbers, and '-' and '.' (which obviously have special
meaning) are allowed. No '/', '*', or similiar characters can be
part of the name.

If you wish to map http://support.domain.com/ to a different directory
on the same machine as www.domain.com, simply use the name based
hosting. The RaQ2 interface and up support this easily enough if you
enter the same IP address for more than one virtual site.

Name based hosting is the only way to map to a directory based on
DNS information alone, as currently only HTTP/1.1 supports a HOST:
header. Although there is a draft for the FTP specs with a HOST
command, that does not seem likely to get pushed through quickly.
