why not disable them using the gui ? if ssh fails, you can enable it
using the gui.
ssh failing is not very probable, but possible : it failed some weeks on
a debian box as i did an upgrade, and the upgrade skript added a file
that did forbid the startup of sshd... greetingx to the packet
maintainer...
