Searched the archives and found this question asked several times but never
answered:

What determines how long the Qube maintains a dial-on-demand PPP connection
via modem?

and

How can I change it so it doesn't drop the connection so quickly?

Been through all the pppd/diald/chat scripts etc. and I can't find a setting
anyplace.
