As I already posted, I encountered similiar problems. For me,
I consistently found that whenever I added a virtual site, that
Qpopper stopped functioning properly, it would accept the user
name and password for a user, create the .user.pop and user.lock
files, but then immediately exit until I rebooted the machine.
I downloaded and installed the Qpopper 3.1b6 tarball and no longer
see this problem. I'm also comfortable with this version because
although it's Beta, it introduces new logic into the code to better
work with quota systems and has been working without any quirks on
our primary mail server (with several thousand users) for over a
month.
