An .htaccess file like this should do the job:
order allow,deny
allow from all
require user admin
Authname CobaltRaQ
Authtype Basic

Hi,
I want to be able to put an application onto each of my hosting sites that
should only be accessible to the owner of the site ie the user or the
siteadmin depending upon what level they are at.
Now I know I can set up a .htaccess and .htpasswd in a directory and give
that password and userid to each customer. What I want to do is to directly
use the password from the system. Is there a simple method available to
simply point the .htaccess to the appropriate password file in the system ?
I want to set it up so that the application runs with the same ownership
as
the site (it is a web based file management utility - webexplorer) and can
therefore access, edit and modify files - I am rather scared of the
security
issues here.
cheers
Jim Carey
