Verizon (formerly Airtouch) has this option for numeric and alfa-numeric.

Does anyone know of a service(teleco) that sells pager services which you
can send an email to and receive the email on your pager. I know certain
cell fones can do this but we beed something to be on 24/7/365. We have used
pagenet.net but they are unprofessional and their service sucks.
