Is "hostname.domain.com" the name of your server? Is "domain.com" the same
domain as the domain part of the server name? Real host names would be helpful
here. I haven't touched the pre-installed Majordomo on anything but a RaQ2, but
I believe in /usr/local/majordomo/majordomo.cf you'll find a line near the top
for a variable $whereami or $whoami or something similar and you can change it
to "domain.com" and I believe it will take care of your problem.

An alias from what to what? What did the record look like? Aliases used by
majordomo involve pipes to the Majordomo wrapper program with flags and
parameters. Unless you added these to the aliases file your alias won't be
processed by Majordomo. And in case you don't know, you need to run
"newaliases" for your changes to create the db file that Sendmail actually uses.

Check aliases.majordomo and look for the lines related to majordomo to see how
it's called. Visit the Majordomo site (http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/)
for more info. Delete the majordomo directory or move it to disable it. Or if
it was installed by RPM ("rpm -qa | grep -n majordomo" to check) type "rpm -e
packagenamehere" to delete it. But Majordomo has nothing to do with regular
aliases. If you don't want to use it, don't. If you delete it, mailing lists
will still be available from the GUI, but they just won't work. And if you're
on a RaQ2 *do not* delete it as it's used by Cobalt internally.

easy with Exchange server!
Paul, I get the idea you might not even really need a mailing list. Do you just
need an email to a large number of users? I posted a message on the subject in
response to someone else earlier today. Find it here:
