No, you've not missed anything.  The RaQs are specifically web-hosting
machines.  They host mail as an add-on to web-hosting.

Just set up a site for something like "mail.domain.com", and put all the
mail there, but put a blank html file:

 <html>
 </html>

in the webspace.
