[cobalt-users] deny of service attack

hi all,
how can I know if I've been attacked?
is there a some sort of guideline I should follow to have an idea?

one of my servers just went bannanas, and we couldn't access it in anyway.
I had to reboot it.

And if I indeed was attacked what can I do to protect my michine from
further attaks?
