I ftp'd the rpms into the box and was installing them that way, I typed in
rpm -Uvh /tmp/MySQL-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm.

I just thought it might have something to do with the actual rpm.  This
seemed like a rather new rpm and I thought it just might not have been done
right.

And yes I was following the directions.  I tried installing the
MySQL-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm  first but when that wouldn't insall I thought that
it might need something fromt he otehr ones so i nstalled them with no
problems.
