for this would serve an old 386/486 or whatever, 8 mb ram + a good linux
book to use it as a guinean pig before hacking the raq...

someone recommended linux in a nutshell (one of the best books), but not
for absolute newbies (as it lists the commands in alphabetical order,
you`ll have to have an idea what command to use). i found it very
helpful after some months of basics.
