It didn't work.  I made a virtual site, with the 
host = test 
domain = mydomain.com
IP = IP
(test.mydomain.com)
then I added an A record like this-
host  = test
domain = mydomain.com
IP = IP
Autoreverse = checked
Then when I try http://test.mydomain.com it doesn't work.
