No, the are not official.  The statement you cited above doesn't mean
it is official.  It simply means if you have installed a previous
experimental release, this experimental release will install over
it.  When it is posted to the support websites it is an official
release.  Until then, it is experimental.  You will notice the URL
to the download is still in the experimental directory.

How did this patch destroy your RaQ?  If there were problems with a
release, I would hope you would bring to the attention of Cobalt
Support.  They are able to help with officially released patches and
problems they may cause.

As for changing modifications you have made to your RaQ, that is
the price you pay for going the unsupported route.  I apologize that
some updates may cause problems with changed you made to the system.
That is clearly not our intention to make it harder to use.  But
we depend upon certain information being in place in order to
reliably update the machine.  What way can we make it easier for you
to avoid problems when applying an update?

Cobalt-Annouce lists official updates.  This will keep you notified
of updates as they occur in an official manner.
