Brian Curtis told you about the Quicktime Streaming server.. However, it is my understanding that mov files are always looking like they are being streamed because the Quicktime Viewer (or reader ?) starts playing from your browser cache as soon as it gets enough to display something... This is not true with RealNetwork technology where you absolutely need a streaming server (the file is never downloaded to your machine and cannot be saved locally).
I think that Apple started the Streaming server in order to provide people with real streaming (ie providing people with a steady flow of data vs hoping that the cache file will be filled in a timely manner to provide a smooth playing..).
Somebody correct me if I am wrong !
