jeff,
it may be that i don't know what i'm talking about (it happens all the
time), but i think there is a slight bug in each of the 3
pop-before-smtp pkg's listed here. the 1.2.3 pkg does not install the
initialization script (/etc/rc.d/init.d/poprelayd), and instead places a
duplicate copy of the main perl program (/usr/local/sbin/poprelayd) in
the init.d directory instead.
i checked each of the three pkg's mentioned above (and compared them to
the original v1.2 pkg's), and each has the main perl program (located at
the top of the tar file, along with the upgrade and uninstall scripts)
where the old pkg's have the initialization shell script.
now am i missing something here? does the upgrade not use the same
initialization script?
if i am right here, can i just copy the same initialization script that
is included in the original pop-before-smtp 1.2 release to the init.d
directory, or has that shell script changed from v1.2 to v1.2.3?
as always thanks for your help,
mikey.
p.s., i don't know if it is related or not, but after upgrading the
pop-before-smtp pkg and the qpopper pkg i was able to send mail before
poping (where the authentication worked just fine before i upgraded,
i.e., it wouldn't let me send without first popping). your thoughts?
