i now know what went wrong, and it was my fault...recall that i said i
reinstalled the pop-before-smtp pkg after installing the os 3.0 pkg
(item 3 in my original note).  well, the carefull reader will note that
the pop-before-smtp pkg contains and installs qpopper v2.53.

will this patch contain the updated qpopper?  if so, i will wait for
it.  if not, i will go to the qpopper rpm.
