While I stand by my comments, of course I admit they're based on my own
experience, and the experience of my peers (some of them from the
inet-access list, which admittedly, is mostly techs at full-service
ISPs).

For example, our sDSL went down for 22 hours one evening without notice,
and when it went back up, they renumbered our network <frown>. We had
nameservers offline for several days because of this (they were only
backups, but ...). The very next day it went down again for 17 hours.

It was spotty for over a month after that. Northpoint and Zyan even
both sent techs out, so they could fingerpoint. Nothing. Eventually it
just started working well again.

But one route on it is buggy; the sites on that route appear one day,
but not the next. I've been fighting this issue for months, as I need a
route to those systems.

Another example: one of my DNS clients called me a few days ago to reset
her DNS; her provider had just changed her IP#s. She called again that
same afternoon; they'd done it again.

I've heard that DSL is taken much more seriously in Canada. You're
lucky <smile>.
