I've been getting this error sent to

     Subject: errors rotating logs

     errors occured while rotating

Can't use an undefined value as a

     /usr/local/sbin/split_logs line 143,

     error running prerotate script --
     leaving old log in place

I was getting a similar error from the prerotate script with respect to the
access log. Called support and they had only one suggestion. Delete the
file. So we deleted the log file (loosing the data there... suppose I could
have gz'd it for safe keeping) then ran the commnad "touch access" which
created a 0 byte access log file. Haven't recieved the message again so it
appears to have worked.

As to WHY? Cobalt had no answer.
