to delete a symlink, just: rm <symlink name>. Since it's a symbolic
link (like a windows-world shortcut), you can delete the symlink with no
fear (just the link, not the stuff it points to will be wiped out).
This means you can delete the user later via the web interface, and you
will still have a web site left.
add these steps to the original advice, to get one user ftp'ing to the
directory:
3.) chown <user dir> <user dir>
4.) chown ../web --recursive <user dir>
To get more than one user doing this, I'm ignorant of a real secure way.
I'd reccomend setting up a generic account for all root web updaters for
a given site to create the symlink, etc. for.

Thanks for the info, but I am having a problem. Once I create the link,
as
admin, when I try to FTP to the directory, I get an invalid password
error
and it won't let me in. Should I be logging in as the user then making
the
changes so the ownerships are correct?
Also, now that I have created the symlink...how do I delete it if I need
to?
Thanks,
Scott
