I think the problem belongs to the /etc/logrotate.d/apache
there is the 'compress' command missing.
it seems that only 2 things are done daily to the main-access_log file:
1. spitlogs
2. restart apache
nowhere will a new logfile created, the old one compressed or so on...
the super-mega-hyper-cobalt staff have forgotten this to implement in their
thinkings?
greetings
Steven

Betreff: [cobalt-users] [RaQ 3i] site statistics stopped working
Greetings to all Cobalt Users!
I'm experiencing a problem with my site statistics. The
access-/error-logfiles in my /var/log/httpd directory grew up to 70MB and
the site statistics stopped working since middle of June. The siteadmin
statistic sections are not updated anymore and the logfiles that can be
downloaded from there are growing as well. The rotation does not seem to be
effective anymore. If I start the logrotation manually, it also doesn't
help. I guess this might be because of the size of the main logfiles. I've
installed the OS3-Update without any error messages.
Shall I now try to do the following commands?
mv access.log access.old
mv error.log error.old
kill -1 `cat /var/run/httpd.pid`
If anyone found a good solution for the logrotation problems, please let me
know.
Thank you in advance,
Oliver Schellenberg
