Sorry, I did not respond to this question!
I think that this will fix the PERL problem also. PERL makes a call to send mail
and fortunately it is not going to wait for(;;) ever.
Let me know how you make out.
I have the same problem as I use offsite DNS servers and they do not support the
PTR parameter which provides the reverse lookup.
There is a big disadvantage, because if someone uses nslookup they won't find
you! They will find your ISP.
I don't like to have the NameServers running on my machines. But, unless I can
resolve the problem I think I will let my machines be the primary server and
then use an offsite secondary server. That way my PTR parameters will work
providing my ISP will delegate authority!!!
You are not alone in this battle, and it's all because of the "Spam" and "virus"
plagues, I wish those guys would find something productive to do.
