probably the least painfull way to do this, set your own computer to use
your server for DNS instead of using your isp's nameserver, add the domain
information to your web server, it won't have any efefct on the existing
site because noone is going to ask your nameserver anything until you
change the registration info on the domain name to point to your
nameserver, but, your computer will ask your server first, so it will get
an IP address that's on your server instead of the sites real address, so
you can look at it and test it etc, when you are happy with the site, just
change the registration info to match and you're done...(note that this
doesn't work all that well for letting customers look at new sites, but
it's handy for looking yourself)
