Fabian, do you do dialup for your clients?
If so, then you have no problem. Just add your
dialup network Class C into that same area.
Otherwise, you have to find out the Class C
or network name of each of the dialup accounts
you want to allow to use the system. This
can also open your server up to misuse (if
you have a lot of AOL users, for example)
but not as much as opening it up to every
.com network.
Example:
I'm dialed in to AOL at the moment
(spare me the AOL jokes please!!!)
I just sent an email to myself, from
AOL to an account on my server, which
I grab using Outlook.
I got the email on my other account,
and look in the header of the email
(you'll need to figure out that one,
depends what email client you use)
It says that the email originated from
Received: from imo-r12.mx.aol.com (imo-r12.mx.aol.com [152.163.225.66])
Now, I CAN enter AOL.com into my
allowable relayers, but I prefer
JUST to use the class C of the
network I'm actually dialed in to,
namely 152.163.255 because I don't
need ALL of AOL to be able to relay.
I could also enter imo-r12.mx.aol.com
if I want, which will limit relaying
capability to only those dialed into
that network. I prefer the Class C.
This can be a pain though, because AOL
uses so many dialup networks, that I almost
have to do this every time I dial in,
if I want to use my server for SMTP when
I'm logged on to AOL.
Hope that helps.
