So, you didn't have to click on OK to reboot?!
Florian,
I read all the discussions going on here.. realized that WGET would just do
the same thing as the GUI.. I sit next to my RAQ3, but was at home..
figured I could drive down Saturday if things got real hairy... but I'm
lazy.. I used the dial up from home and went for it.
In the maintenance window, click on INSTALL SOFTWARE.. and then put this in
the URL box..
http://ftp.cobalt.com/pub/packages/raq3/eng/RaQ3-en-OSUpdate-3.0.pkg
This is so easy, all you really need is the URL. From my Windoze machine, I
just right clicked on the link on the features page
(http://www.cobalt.com/support/download/raq3.eng.html) and pasted it into
the box.
Granted, I was nervous with all the "what if" crap here.. but the package
can't run till it's transferred... Frankly, I was more worried about the
contents of the package.. but Jeff Lasman's comments about using it for
weeks reassured me beyond any doubt.
I don't know for sure on the reboot. I hear the PKG is supposed to do this
automatically, I wasn't sure if ANYTHING had happened, so I reattached and
rebooted (maybe the second time).. once I looked at the SOFTWARE ON THIS
SERVER.. I knew it was right.
I usually like to wait a while to install patches.. but that's because of
problems with Microsoft patches.. This one was so easy it's embarrassing
that we worry about it.
