It depends on what the Spam was. Did it advertise your client's web site?
Was the reply address being used to collect replies to the Spam? If either
of the above is yes, your client is spamming. Whether he sent the Spam via
your server is irrelevant. It would be subject to being in the RBL either
way, as would your server for providing Spam support services.
