Well, things are going from bad to oh poop ...

First, the techie at customer support did not warn me that the SOHOware Fast
PCI would not work even though I told him that was what I had. Actually, it is
a NDC 10/100 Fast Ethernet MX987x5 card. Then on Monday, I could not talk to
a real person other than voice mail to request an overnight shipment. After
about a dozen calls I gave up and used the web page to order. Then on Tuesday,
much to my surprise I had a return call on my voice mail which I returned on
Wednesday. The manager apologized and was most sympathetic and said she would
see to it that my restore CD was sent out immediately. Good and bad news, the
CD arrived today, but it was for a RAQ3. So I call the manager and she says
she will send me another. Now I read your message and find out that even when
I get the Restore CD it will not work. I assume this is because Cobalt is
unable to get the drivers for the nic cards??

I decide to see if the RAQ3 CD will at least boot. So I configure the PC to
boot from the CD. I had to disconnect the hard drive to even get it to start
to boot from the CD. Finally, it went to sleep at the Loading initrd.img ...
prompt. I assume that is due to the network card problems??

BTW, the CD instructions do not say which interface to use, I am assuming on
uses the primary interface?

So now I will go buy a Netgear FA310TX ethernet card (Tulip 21143-based)?? and
an RJ45 Crossover cable to put in my PC while using the CD (certainly do not
intend to totally change out my Win2K setup just to get the Qube2 to work). It
is only $22 so big deal.

We will try again tomorrow.

Unbelievable!
