Thanks for the instructions.

I edited the file logcheck.sh in the

# LOG FILE CONFIGURATION SECTION

so that /var/log/messages and /var/log/maillog are checked also; by
commenting out the entry under #Generic (i compiled as generic) and
removed the comments  in the # Linux Red Hat subsection.
