[cobalt-users] RaQ3 .raq backup files

Hi,
I've just spent a couple of fraught days recovering a crashed RaQ.
Fortunately, we'd been keeping daily backups, through the RaQs scheduled
backup option. Of course, I came to restore the files, and found the only
way to do it is from your local machine, which is annoying when you're on a
56K connection, and you've got 4 gigs of files to restore, from a nice fast
separate FTP backup server. After much digging, (and realising how truly
useless the RaQ3s method of backup/restore is), I came across the script to
strip the headers from the Raq2 .raq files, written by Jeff Bilicki, which
sadly didn't work on the Raq3.
A short scratching of the chin later, and a bit of recoding, and it now will
convert a Raq3 .raq backup file into a stardard .tar.gz file :)
I've posted it at http://www.notnet.co.uk/cobalt/strip.pl.txt if anyone else
has a need for it.
To use it, move the .raq file over to the RaQ server, and run :
strip.pl <input_file.raq> <output_file.tar.gz>
the restore the files with tar.
Hope this helps someone :)
Regards,
Ben Charlton
