RE: [cobalt-users] FrontPage Problems

Hi Mark,

My method is to create a user for each site that is only used from FrontPage
/ FTP, make that user administrator. This also assists people if they get a
3rd party to design the sites, as they will not be handing out the username
& password of their mailbox.

Then I create the FrontPage extensions, upload a holding page using the user
created above.

I also will create a cgi-bin via FTP again using this user - or via Telnet.

Finally any automatically created directories or files, I make sure that I
chown them just after the cron file creates or updates the files.

Using this method I have never has any problems, as the files / directories
will either be owned by httpd or the user created. As long as you use the
same user to publish with FP you will have no problems.

I use FTP & FrontPage on sites with no problems (yet!)

Regards,

Ian.
