Brian,

I don't see why you would want to have an open SMTP. Any clients of
yours that need to send e-mails can use their ISP's SMTP server. Every
ISP (As Far As I Know) has a SMTP server for their dialup customers or
whatever type of connection.
Having an open SMTP (which is what you are talking about when you say
that you don't want to have to specify every IP address) is very, very
dangerous and you will probably find that people will use your SMTP
server to spam...
