Title: RE: [cobalt-users] Has anyone used Advanced Internet Technologies (AIT) as ISP?

Actually, I do know for fact they have multiple DS-3's (which you're not disputing).  As for the OC-192, well...I think that's kind of legit, but I think that's an intra-city connection. Our city public works commission installed dark fiber and a lot of it all around the city. As you may know, there's not really a bandwidth limit on that per say. My company leases some of the dark fiber strands and we run OC-12 on it and it performs great. So they maybe running OC-192 on it or they could run OC-192 on it for local companies. They mentioned this to me in the past. I'm not sure it they are talking about that in this case or not. Charles VanSickle is their VP of Networking. You can email him at charles@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and I'm sure he can explain what they are talking about. If that is what they are talking about, it's not a fair claim on their part, I agree. It's actually kind of bogus. Again, ask Charles, he runs all that so he should be able to explain that. I surely don't believe they have that kind of connection to that net.

As for billing nightmares, we've have had them too.  We live in the same city as AIT and personally have been there on a number of occasions just for billing errors. One $199 a month billing error lasted 6 months before it was fixed and we were credited. I suppose it could have been handled over the phone but we're local and visit every now and then anyways.

As for support, well there's really no support that I can think of other than rebooting. But to be honest, I don't want them messing with my box. Call me funny but it's like renting an apartment and then asking your Apartment Manager to fix your TV. I will say our RaQ1 crapped out on us and wouldn't reboot (Root temp partition was full..or something or another...I guess??) they mounted the drive, extracted the data and put it up so I could download file. This was done for no charge. Now, I don't know if they screwed up and didn't bill us or if it's because we work with them on occasion or what. But I don't want to refresh their memory.

I simply use them for their Internet connection and the IP addresses. That part is great! Superb, Excellent...no complaints and I wouldn't switch!  Why? Cheap, fast, and local. I haven't had any problems with my Internet connection in 2 years with my RaQ and that's all they are there for...for me anyways.

And I'll say I'm sorry now for that stupid message attached to my email.

Good Luck,

Sean Fay
