Re: [cobalt-users] Has anyone used Advanced Internet Technologies (AIT) as ISP?

Hello, all.

Curious if anyone has any stories, good or bad, about Advanced Internet Technologies in Fayetteville, NC. They seem to specialize in virtual hosting and reseller accounts, but also offer colocation packages very inexpensively ($99/mo if you supply a Raq, no setup fees, no bandwidth throttling, all switched connections, and up to 75 gigs/month of throughput. )

They have multiple T3 and OC3 connections to different backbones, so it doesn't seem as though bandwidth clogging will be a problem.

I've been working with them as a reseller, and their support so far has been excellent, but the colo thing is a completely different animal, and they don't seem to have many colo customers.

I'm also open for any other colocation ISP suggestions... and have been noting the suggestions people have made thus far.

Thanks!

Chip

I see you've been with them as a reseller and been ok...but even that was not my experience. I used AIT for years and for the first 1 1/2 years everything appeared to go well..support existed, service was fast. As AIT grew, this all went away. I wasted over a year with them hoping they would get straightened back out.

They mis-figured my billings,..double billed for the same virtual hosts..double billed set-up fees, billed for vhosts that were not even mine, took months to remove them from my record, charged setup fees for the vhosts I didn't own, refused to remove the double billings upon notification, even after several months. They admitted to the mistakes but promises to fix them were unkept. Tech support even fell apart and my favored personnel seemed to disappear. All three of my reseller accounts were involved in the mess and I finally had to walk away. Talked to many, many people..including higher-ups and even with all the apologies and assurances that everything would be fixed, it never was. AIT has several hundred dollars of my money...money I never got service for. I had authorized them to charge a credit card every month and even after verbal and written notice that said authorization was being discontinued, they continued to send charges to the card and I finally had to report it stolen to get the charging stopped. I now try very hard to stay away from any company remotely connected to AIT. It's getting harder and harder to do though as they expand. I scoff at their claims to certify hosting and business companies (verihost and veribiz). They can't even keep their own books straight.

take care...I'll gladly pay a few extra dollars per month to stay away from AIT.

see ya,
