So you are telling me that the Cobalt Server running SAMBA which you wish to
backup does not appear in your "Network Neighborhood" (on the machine doing
the backups)?

If so, then that may be a bit of a problem.

I'd suggest you raise this issue with Dantz as I have always had my server
and backup workstation on the same LAN.

To the best of my knowledge using Retrospect to backup SAMBA shares really
needs to have SMB support between the two machines. If you use Retrospect
Clients, then you are not limited to SMB, but Dantz currently only have a
MacOS and Windows client. Dantz have acknowledged that they are working on
a unix/linux client and I have heard a rumour that they have some Cobalt
hardware in their development lab ... let us hope the result will be a
Restrospect client for Cobalt to replace the existing Legato client.

Cheers, Malcolm
