I'm sure you'll get a more educated and detailed response from someone else.
However, I've seen this go by before within the last couple of months on
this list, so check the archives for say, the last 3 months, and I'm sure
you'll find the gory details.

Short answer: you probably modified the master configuration file for the
majordomo software, which is used as a template for creating lists. However,
the variable you changed will only affect *new* lists.

For lists that already existed before you made this change, you'll have to
make the change in the configuration file for each list.
