There are two ways to keep the control panel from overwriting manual
changes.  The first is NOT to use the control panel.  The second is to
make the changes NOT to the database files, but instead to the file that
the gui uses, which is /etc/named/records.

Look at it and you can figure out what al the fields mean, I'm sure.

Problem of course is that this file is read back into the gui.  So can
you write back out wildcards?  I'm not sure.

Wildcards scare me; it's too easy to mess something up later and not
know why.
