RE: [cobalt-users] Users' SMTP Server

Thanks, Dan.
As I said before, I have already implemented software of this nature. The problems I am talking about come from users that are on my system (spammers sign up with that intent). They can easily check their mail before they send spam through the account. My simple question to the list is this:

How can I prevent the IP and domain name of the main server from showing up in my users' outoging email? I want the users' IP and domain there, not my server's.

I am not concerned with relaying issues from outsiders. Plenty of spammers get free/low cost accounts to do their mischeif. If they use mine, and AOL gets em before I do, the IP and domain will be blocked. Not good.

Any way to accomplish this? (ie sendmail config, multiple smtp servers or IP masquerading perhaps?)

Thanks agqain...
David

If you just use POP before SMTP, your machine will not be an open relay so
it won't be blocked. If you've made the mistake of allowing blanket relay
from common ISP domains like AOL, the spammers will find you anyway.
