Thank you Oren.  I successfully installed MySQL 3.22.32-1 and PHP 3.0.16 from
the /experimental/raq3 files last night.  This was not an upgrade, but a new
install of both (plus the freetype and gd files).  All testing so far
indicates everything is working great.

I think an updated KB article might be a good idea when you get a spare 15
minutes...

This is a straight grab from www.mysql.com
The rpms seem to work on the two systems I tried.
I have not tried upgrading from a previous version of mysql however.
