There is an excellent PHP based message board called Phorum which uses a MySQL
database backend. Phorum is located at http://www.phorum.org, but the site has
been inaccesible the last few days. I have the gzipped tar file for v3.08
(there is a newer version) if anyone wants it. Phorum is free, easy to setup,
easy to configure and seems to be very fast. I remember seeing the feature list
for the new version and it had additional features and possibly more database
choices. In any case all of the database functions are contained in an
abstraction file so they could be easily modified in 15 minutes to work with
other databases.
