The Raq2 should be able to handle a pretty decently sized site, if the
software running on it is decent. I would venture a guess that UBB is not
too well written (although a lot of people really like it). I would think
that the software should be replaced with more efficient code. If I am not
mistaken UBB uses flat files, and you could gain much in performance by
switching to a faster SQL based server back-end and perhaps your own custom
code written in PERL or PHP.
