Re: [cobalt-users] Newbie Question on User's Email Raq3

I know of what you suffer from John. You can only send mail to joe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx but not joe@xxxxxxxxxxx

It is a DNS problem.

You can fix it by making sure you have all the following in your DNS table:

www.domain.com ----> server.ip.add.ress
domain.com ----> server.ip.add.ress

I also put in the following entries, we were not sure if it helped but it does not hurt:
mail.domain.com ----> server.ip.add.ress
domain.com mail is sent to the Very-High priority mail server mail.domain.com

Members use mail.domain.com as the pop and smtp server address.

And make sure you hit the "Save changes to DNS server" button to restart the DNS server!

Let me know if it works.

Hi John,

I cannot understand your situation, let me ask some questions
(I also like to replay your situation on my machine to learn).

You wrote:

How do you retrieve it, do you have an email alias '@mydomain.com'
setup or which user is retrieving it or else?

Have you checked "accept email for domain" on this virtual server?

What happens to the mail you send to whatever@xxxxxxxxxxxx ?
Does it get bounced ? (else it should land in *some* mailbox, I think).

Michael
