Zeffie,
I am not sure I understand what you are trying to say, but if the whole
thing is about moving this list, or starting another one, why not do it? Do
you want us to tell you in advance if we are going to subscribe? I might. I
need to see it first. Everything that you say that you want from a list is
fine. If we all get together, we could even add some more. You will never
now, though, until you start and set it up. Every beginning is difficult.
If you think, you have the time and resources for a list, start it, let
people know about it, keep for some time, and if you get enough subscribers,
fine. If not, shut it down, learn from it for the next time, and move
forward.
More than half of the people in this list, I think, would start a new list,
or migrate the existing one, if they new in advance that their list would be
a success. I think that the most important thing is to start the list. If we
manage to create a strong user community, that is using two or more lists
simultaneously, then the two or more moderators/managers/hosts can sit down
together, talk and decide to merge them into one.
And one more thing. If someone hosts/manages a list, I won't mind some
advertising as long as it's not intrusive. If I receive one ad-message for
every 10 posts, it is intrusive. If I receive a monthly "newsletter" about
new products/services/packages or whatever is not the end of the world.
