I would suggest holding a small election. We could use this list to do it.
Any one interested in becoming President could send an email to the list
with a subject line of "Candidate". Next Tuesday we hold the election.
Voters would simply send an email to the list with "Vote:Candidate's Name
Here". This way, any of us could certainly count the votes. The results
would not be forged since we would all see them.
If there is enough response on the new list, have the President start a
non-profit organization that would own the new domain name, make some bylaws
and away you go.
At least with the election, the current users would have a voice and we
would quickly find out how many people want the list to be kept alive.
