I already explained that more than once; I'm facilitating. I'm doing
the hard work of getting it done.

In his most recent post to all the lists, Bruce wrote:

I am very much in favor of the cobalt-* lists being migrated/continued.
Ryan has "first mover" advantage I think, by setting up
cobalt-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and cobalt-developers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So Bruce's direction appears to be that he believes the lists should be
migrated (I keep using the word "moved") to qbalt.com.

Bruce is, as I've said in the past, the list owner. But he's looking
for a new job now, and I'm doing the actual work of moving the list.

It's possible that if I drop out today the lists will still get moved.

Evidently a lot of people, based on lack of any positive reaction so
far, are willing to see this list disappear. I'm trying to make sure
it stays running, with Bruce owning and managing it.

I'm not only reading his messages, I'm communicating with him by
telephone and private email continually (except that he's not available
today).

Either you're not reading my posts or I don't understand your point.
There are NO NEW LISTS. What I'm doing is working hard to migrate
(okay, I'll use that word) the currently existing lists to a new
server... and in fact that new server IS Ryan's server, and his domain
name is qbalt.com.

CobaltFacts _is_ an alternative list. This _is_ cobalt-users.
CobaltFacts actually has a more liberal policy of advertising on lists
than does cobalt-users, and I've already said the cobalt-users policy
won't be changed, at least not by me.

So the question is a fair one.

I'm so intent on moving this list because since 1999 it's shown itself
as a great venue for Cobalt Users to know and help each other.

The fact is that most people will NOT subscribe to a new list. Most of
the community will disappear. How do I know? I've been through this
many times before in the years I've been on lists (since some time in
the 70s), and I've learned the hard way that keeping this list going by
moving it to another (Ryan's?) server is the best way to keep the
community together.

I don't recall seeing a post from Zeffie, and we haven't talked about
during our phone conversations either, but I may have just missed it.
Ryan's server is the server I'm talking about; Ryan's lists are set up
now with Bruce and I having administration rights, so Bruce can manage
the list as necessary and I can finish migrating the list over.
